The Gifts of Men - Apostles

In this episode, we will explore who the apostles were, their qualifications, authority, role (work), and purpose. They were chosen by the Lord as His ambassadors. This would make sense because of the fact that they were empowered by the Spirit who guided them into all truth.

Their work is unique in that they were the only ones with the power to lay hands on saints to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. They traveled where saints lived in order to impart some spiritual gift. This is made obvious from Paul's trip to Ephesus, where found disciples of Christ. The first thing of note that comes out of his mouth is the question, "Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?" This would have been a common question to ask disciples.

There are multiple paths to take to show that their work has been completed and that there are no apostles of Christ, today. No one can be a witness, nor start from John's baptism until the day Jesus was taken up. Even though some may claim the genuineness of their calling, Christ would no longer need apostles today. The mystery revealed has brought together all in Christ and His rule is established in the hearts of His people. We are the rich recipients of the Spirit's completed work.
