Episode 11

Righteousness Apart From Law

In this episode, we are looking at Romans 3:21-26 which is a return to the book's theme concerning the righteousness of God for the sinner. Human beings can go to two extremes on this topic. One extreme is to use God's grace as freedom to sin without impunity. In other words, people may treat sin lightly and fail to walk worthy of the gospel of Christ.

The other extreme is usually heard taught from the pulpits of legalistic mindsets that emphasize the need to keep the law of Christ to be approved. The agenda is to convict everyone but law-abiding Christians as sinners. In this case, the gospel of Christ is turned into another law system of works by which one is justified.

Either extreme is damaging and requires calling attention to it as another gospel which is not another (Gal. 1:6-9).
