Episode 31

Romans 14 and the Conscience

This text is unique, not in that the conscience is not mentioned anywhere else but because of the emphasis on us not putting a stumbling block in the way of others that would embolden another to violate their conscience. In this way, we are reminded that we have personal responsibility to maintain our own spiritual condition, but we have to also look out for the welfare of our brothers and sisters.

This same emphasis is carried over into chapter fifteen but chapter fourteen is a practical chapter that places a burden on all of God's people to be aware of the serious implications of violating our conscience.
